The Central Coast Aero Club has hosted Gorokan High School students and teachers in their second Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) course, giving participants the opportunity to explore the varying careers available throughout our aviation industry.

Students and teachers were given an introduction to aviation, briefings on learning to fly, aerodynamics and aviation legislation, including the opportunity to climb into the cockpit of the Aero Club’s fleet of training aircraft.

Participants were also given briefings on aircraft maintenance and engineering topics, including a hands-0n tour of the club’s aircraft maintenance facilities, along with meeting pilots and engineers.

Following the various STEM workshops and tours, participants were given the opportunity to get hands on with the club’s flight simulation resources, with students and teachers trying their hands at flying a Boeing 787 into Sydney International Airport at night.

“We were very happy to host Gorokan High, and are always open to visits from other schools around the Central Coast.  I welcome teachers and course coordinators to get in touch with the Aero Club to register their interest.” Central Coast Aero Club President Mr Andrew Smith.
