Get ready for an aviation experience unlike any other.  Due to overwhelming demand, we are pleased to announce AOPA Australia Air Safaris’ will be visiting the Great Barrier Reef: one of Australia’s greatest playgrounds.

Family and friends are invited to the 10 day Great Barrier Reef Air Safari, starting on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday 12th September finishing at Hervey Bay on Saturday September 21st.

Leaving the Sunshine Coast, the Air Safari heads for Townsville, and via boat transfer we will be staying at the Peppers Blue on Blue Resort on Magnetic Island for two nights.  Mini mokes will be available to explore the island and can be used to converge onto one of the island’s many beautiful beaches one evening for a BBQ.

Departing Townsville and heading north up the coast, then  on to Cairns for two nights at the luxurious Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas on Four Mile Beach. Surrounded by 147ha of tropical gardens, 2ha of saltwater lagoon pools and an 18-hole golf course, the 5-star resort amenities represent the resort’s fresh beachside nature inspired by the Tropical North Queensland lifestyle with some rooms featuring swim-up balconies.

The following day after arriving at Port Douglas we will cruise out to the majestic Agincourt Coral Reef for lunch, snorkelling, and if you wish, diving amongst the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef.

After our two nights stay at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas, we head south along the pristine North Queensland coast to Airlie Beach for two nights at the Airlie Beach Hotel.

At Airlie Beach we enjoy an exciting trip to Whitehaven Beach onboard a 12 metre semi-rigid inflatable, originally designed and built as rescue crafts powered by twin 500hp Yamaha engines, along with reef snorkelling allowing you to experience tropical paradise away from the crowds.

The last two nights are spent at Hervey Bay. At this time of the year many whales can be observed in the Hervey Bay area during their southern migration.

In addition to these activities there will be many scenic opportunities flying up and down the Queensland coast. These can include following the chain of islands offshore Mackay through to the Whitsundays or perhaps tracking Fitzroy Island, Green Island and Oyster Reef in the Cairns area.
