The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia is excited to announce a partnership with Oz STOL to promote bush flying and STOL competition flying across Australia.

OzSTOL was formed in 2018 by AOPA Australia members and flying mates Andrew Biggs, David Jardine and Phil Pluis in response to increasing interest and participation in STOL competition in Australia, holding their first event in 2018 from Luskintyre Airport NSW.  Worldwide, bush flying and STOL competition has become one of the fastest growing segments of general aviation, helping spur renewed interest in flying.

“It’s great to have the support of the AOPA Australia to help promote stronger participation in bush flying and in general aviation.  We are looking forward to building pilot participation in STOL competition,” said Oz STOL’s Andrew Biggs.

“AOPA Australia is really excited to see how bush flying and STOL competition are inspiring and igniting renewed interest in aircraft ownership, refurbishment and flying.  Strong interest in this growing sector can help drive uplift in aircraft sales, aircraft maintenance, refurbishment and flying activity, which is great news for Australia’s general aviation industry.  Getting pilots flying can only be a great thing and we are proud to be supporting Andrew and his team,” said Executive Director Benjamin Morgan.

In partnership with Oz STOL, AOPA Australia will assist with event promotion, marketing and digital communications, along with providing youth engagment support through the Junior Pilots program.

Oz STOL will hold its next competition weekend from Luskintyre Airfield in NSW – Friday, 24th to Sunday 26th May 2019.  AOPA Australia members and all aircraft owners and pilots are welcomed to fly in and enjoy the Oz STOL competition from the side-lines, along with enjoying the planned evening celebrations, entertainment and festivities.
