The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia will today meet with the Bega Valley Shire Council at 10am to discuss a range of topics concerning Merimbula Airport.
Topics for discussion include:
– Challenges faced by the Australian recreational and general aviation sectors post COVID-19 and how Merimbula Airport can best position itself moving forward;
– Land and facilities available to recreational and general aviation seeking to establish themselves at Merimbula Airport;
– Aviation property lease tenures to attract capital investment from existing and new aviation business opportunities;
– Aviation property lease rates, fees and charges to aviation industry participants who are leasing, seeking to renew or seeking new leasing opportunities;
– Public liability insurance requirements for aircraft owners & pilots;
– Landing fees and charges to recreational and private aviation and opportunities to harness this function into driving tourism opportunities for Merimbula;
– Re-establishment and engagement of the Merimbula airport advisory committee, requesting for AOPA Australia to participate in this process moving forward;
– Establishment of partnership between council and AOPA Australia to help promote the airport location to industry.
