The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia has responded to calls for assistance from local recreational aviators at Wynard Airport in Tasmania, with reports that user fees have increased by as much as 68 percent across the past year.
The Association has convened a Town-Hall meeting via Zoom video conference, for Thursday, 2nd September 2021, commencing 7pm. All aviation stakeholders are invited.
“AOPA Australia is working with RAAUS members at Wynyard Airport in Tasmania, where they are facing 68% increases in user fees.” Benjamin Morgan, AOPA Australia CEO.
“Rapid increases in airport user fees are threatening airport communities nationwide, with the situation worsening as a result of COVID-19.
“Regardless of the airport location, unsustainable airport fees simply drive aviators and business away and serve to damage the viability of local aviation.
“AOPA Australia has today extended an open invitation to local aviation stakeholders, seeking a meeting to discuss the fees and charges.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, 2nd September 2021, via Zoom video conference and will commence from 7pm. Aviation stakeholders are all invited to take part, simply use the contact details below to register and to receive the meeting link.
“We are looking forward to meeting local aviators to discuss the situation further.” he said.
