AOPA Australia is pleased to announce that leading Australian aviation and business journalist Paul M Southwick has accepted the position of Editor for Australian Pilot Magazine.

Paul comes from an aviation family; his father having served as an officer pilot for the RNZAF during WWII.  Paul’s aircraft flight reviews will be well known to members, with his distinctive passion and popular style that capture, from a pilot’s perspective, what it really feels like to fly each airplane he has reviewed.  In 2017 Paul was one of the first journalists invited to the US to test fly and report on the Cirrus Vision Jet.

A long time AOPA Australia member, who holds Australian, New Zealand, and US pilot licenses, and has flown over 30 types, Paul says “As a close observer of all things aviation I have been mightily impressed with the momentum Benjamin Morgan and the team at AOPA Australia are building to advance the interests of owner and pilot members.  It is a privilege to be offered an opportunity to serve members in a communications role.  I look forward to meeting members; telling their interesting stories; as well as publishing articles that make them better, safer and happier pilots.”

Benjamin Morgan, AOPA Executive Director says “Paul has a strong reputation for insightful and enjoyable journalism.  He brings a high level of professionalism to AOPA Australia that will flow through not just to our magazine, but also into the wider communication of members’ interests.  We are delighted to have Paul as a member of our team.”

Look out for Paul’s articles in the next issue including pilot reports on the Piper M600 and Blackshape Prime.
